Burnaby, Canada, August 2010 — On November 9, Martin Fandrich, PhD, PEng, of Bannerman Consultants will be presenting a full-day technical seminar entitled Predicting Reliability in Mechanical Design. This new seminar, part of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) CPD program, gives techniques for calculating the probability of failure (and conversely reliability) as a means of engineering consistent safety levels. The seminar also explores the inconsistencies and limitations of the traditional design method of using safety factors. Focussing explicitly on limiting failure allows more freedom to design and innovate while simultaneously leveraging previous experience. Seminar and registration information may be found atwww.apeg.bc.ca/prodev/events/predicting_reliability.html.
