Working Through Covid-19

Fort Langley, August 2020 – Covid-19 seems like it will be with us for a while. The way most engineering offices operate has changed somewhat as a result. In many cases we aren’t sitting next to our colleagues the way we used to. We may be operating with a dispersed team. Supervision of project stages isn’t possible the way that was typically done in the past.

Something that Bannerman Consultants has been doing for years is working to a written work scope. Prior to kicking off a project, we have a meeting to outline the extents of the requirements and to understand what outcomes and deliverables are needed. We then draft a written proposal to outline terms of reference before we start in earnest. In our experience projects where the participants are not in the same physical location go more smoothly when assumptions and expectations are worked through beforehand. Some projects are difficult to predict in advance and some may change as discoveries are made, but generally the first steps are known. Although we have niche and deep expertise, we feel that it is our strong operating systems that will provide you with the most value.

Our goal of assisting you in solving difficult technical challenges remains. Please let us know how we can be of service. Can we give you flexibility by being a variable-cost component of your engineering resource? Can we give focus to a technical area that is being overlooked with a dispersed technical team? How can we help you in these unprecedented times?
